The Projecting Peace Film Festival aims to demonstrate that the power and popular appeal of films can promote reflection on the issues of social justice and responsible change. Towards this goal, we will presented a selection of films that appeal to the diverse communities found at McMaster University and in the greater Hamilton community.
The films showcased feature themes of peace and healthy approaches to conflict which inform an audience about social justice issues. These films are predominantly independently released films and documentaries, in order to increase their exposure.
Additionally, we aimed to provide an experience that does not just end when the credits roll. Other performance and awareness-raising events ran in conjunction with these film screenings.
The mission: Inspire, Inform, Incite.
The film festival will run from Monday March 15 through Saturday March 21, at McMaster University and the Sky Dragon Community Co-Operative.
All shows are admission by donation. Depending on the film, donations may go towards the costs of the film festival, film rights, or to a related charity or non-profit.
